The BC2D15 controller boards are complete Bipolar dual-axis stepper motor controller systems implemented on a miniature 2.1 inch wide by 2.5 inch tall board (as shown here).  They include the capability of driving one or two bipolar stepper motors at high speeds using current control techniques.  These units are a good choice for those designing products which require higher motor speeds, since they can easily "over-voltage" the motor (to attain the higher speed) without overloading it.

These products require that you select a power supply whose voltage and current can handle your stepper motor.  You will first want to review the calculating motor current for current controlled products faq in order to determine the current and voltage requirements for your motor.

The boards can operate bipolar motors from about 0.2 to 1.3 amps/winding when used as a continuous duty device, and it can handle up to 1.5 amps per winding when used in intermittent service (no more than 30 seconds of the motor being on, followed by at least 30 seconds being off).

These boards may be configured with the BC2D15NCStepper, BC2D15PotRouter or the BC2D15PotStepper firmware. All of the firmwares share the capability of operating one or two independent motors.  The BC2DPotStepper firmware adds the option of allowing step-and-direction based control via the TTL input lines, while the BC2DPotRouter firmware adds the capability of "daisy-chaining" controllers, permitting multiple controllers to be operated off of one serial port.  BC2D15NCStepper operates the two motors in a linked fashion, which allows for perfectly straight lines when operating orthogonal axis devices (such as pen plotters) in a Numerically Controlled environment.
